As you will know if you follow our blogs, we have recently launched the Forces of Nature project with the members of the Veterans Shed Conwy . The aim of the project is to give our local Veterans the oppertunity to spend time with eachother and community groups engaging in a range of nature themed outdoor activities and projects hosted here at Pen y Bryn Farm and Holiday Cottages. Forces of Nature - Caravan Clean up.
This week we hosted some of the lovely members of the Veterans Shed Conwy and WRAC while they started the first task in our on going project Forces of Nature. This week saw our veterans pull up their sleeves, pop on their marigolds and get scrubbing as they worked together clean up an old caravan loaned to the project. Our Bee Keeping Journal Part 2 – Setting up our own hives.
Having met the honey Bees close up a few weeks ago, we really got the bug for Bee keeping here at Pen y Bryn and have set up our very own Bee hives on the orchard! With the help of our expert Bee keeper we selected a breed of Bee called Buckfast to start our journey with. Buckfast Bees are a good choice for us because they are more resistant to diseases and mites than some of the other Bees and they also suit our climate better which will help them survive over winter.
