Save 20% on family memberships to CADW heritage sites this summer

At Pen-y-Bryn Farm and Holiday Cottages, we love to find great offers for our new and returning guests. To celebrate the launch of their summer programme, Cadw - the official historic environment service of the Welsh Government - are offering 20% off all family membership passes until Friday the 19th of July 2019 at 5pm. The distances shown are from Pen-y-Bryn Farm to the individual place shown.

Our local Welsh Heritage sites are made up of a wide variety of places to visit, which include castles and castle walls such as:

  • Rhuddlan Castle (10.58m) An awesome feat of engineering towering above the River Clwyd.

  • Twthill, Rhuddlan (10.66m) Medieval mound where a long, lost castle once stood.

  • Conwy Castle (14.67m) Magnificent, medieval fortress towering above Conwy for over 700 years.

  • Conwy Town Walls (14.74) Walk the walls of a World Heritage Site.

  • Denbigh Town Walls (14.74m) The first line of defence for Denbigh's medieval castle.

  • Denbigh Castle (14.85m) A mighty castle which evokes the drama of medieval warfare.

  • Dolwyddelan Castle (29.66m) A commanding, Welsh stronghold in a spectacular mountain setting.

Although Wales is, naturally, famous for being home to some of the finest castles and castle walls in the world, there are many other historical places of interest to visit across North Wales, which include:

  • Denbigh, St Hilary's Chapel (14.85m) A simply stunning town church.

  • Denbigh, Leicester's Church (14.87m) The remains of an ill-fated Elizabethan church.

  • Plas Mawr (14.97m) Britain's finest town house of the golden, Elizabethan age.

  • Denbigh Friary (15.12m) A ruined, religious settlement laid low by Henry VIII.

  • Gwydir Uchaf Chapel (18.43m) Look upwards to life the spirits.

  • Maen Achwyfan Cross (20.76m) The art of the Vikings.

  • Capel Garmon Burial Chamber (21.71m) Neolithic Burial Chamber in an unexplained location.

  • St Winefride's Chapel and Holy Well (25.89m) Still a popular place of Pilgrimage.

  • Basingwerk Abbey (27.10m) A medieval religious centre that's still a place of pilgrimage.

  • Derwen Churchyard Cross (27.22m) A preaching cross with striking Christian carvings that has stood the test of time.

  • Penmon Dovecote (30.23m) A bird box on a truly epic scale.

Cadw will be running lots of different events at all of the places mentioned and many more throughout the coming school summer holidays.

Their website says: 'Families visiting Cadw sites this summer will travel through time as Cadw launches its family friendly Kids’ History Festival, a pan-Wales celebration of Welsh heritage running over the school summer holidays.

In addition, real characters of Wales’s historic sites return as our hugely popular, fully-immersive, historical events programme Legends Live! returns to keep young families entertained.

Cadw membership offers outstanding value giving unlimited access to 130 historic sites across Wales, with Family Membership starting at only £3.50 a month.'
