Enjoy October half term and Halloween with Pen-y-Bryn Farm & Holiday Cottages


With the October half term holidays and Halloween just a few few weeks away, Pen-y-Bryn Farm & Holiday Cottages invite you to spend a self-catering short break, a long weekend or week with us exploring the autumnal and spooky events that are taking place all around us in glorious North Wales. There are so many different things to choose from for every age and interest. Here are just a few ideas from the local area to whet your appetite.

On Saturday the 19th of October from 11am until 1pm, join the knowledgeable volunteers at Conwy RSPB for an informative two hour guided walk around the nature reserve as they attempt to show you as many different species as possible. This is billed as a quick way to see at least 50 species in just a couple of hours! There is a small fee of £2 per adult and £1 per child, plus standard entrance fees apply for non-members. Oktoberfest returns to Wrexham on Friday the 25th and Saturday the 26th of October 2019. Just a 50 minute drive from our holiday cottages, one of the largest bier festivals in the world brings its tasty tradition celebrating all things Bavarian to Wrexham Town Centre. Their website says: 'Don your dirndl and leap into those lederhosen, as we take over Wrexham town centre in the heart of North Wales for one huge weekend extravaganza!!! Complete with oompah & party bands this is not an event to miss! Also featuring world class The Jäger Maestros Oompah Band!!!' There are 3 sessions to choose from: Friday 25th Oct 2019, 6pm – 11pm; Saturday 26th Oct 2019, 12pm – 5pm and Saturday 26th Oct 2019, 6pm – 11pm. From Friday the 25th until Thursday the 31st of October, Zip World in Betws-y-Coed will be hosting their Halloween fear fest, Ffear Fforest. Open to anyone aged 9 years and over, this event is already proving popular. You can pre-book tickets for £25 per person or, subject to availability, pay on the night for £30 per person. Ticket prices include access to Halloween Ffear Fforest, access to The Nets for the entire event and two rides on the Cursed Coaster, plus all of the other tricks and treats the evening has in store. On the 26th of October 2019, the Halloween Porth Eirias races will take place from the Promenade in Colwyn Bay. This chip timed race will see all competitors receive a finishers medal. The 1K race starts at 9.15am, with the 10K race starting at 10am. The 1K event is for ages 4 to 15 and costs £6 to enter plus a 5% admin fee. The 10K event is for ages 15 and over and costs £14 plus a 5% admin fee. Fancy dress is welcome but not essential. For more information, please click here to visit their website. Conwy Castle are hosting their Creepy Castle event on Halloween itself – Thursday the 31st of October 2019. From 11am until 4pm, take a tour to see what is hiding in the dark corners and who you will met along the way. You will hear tales about the magnificent, historic building and listen to the ghostly goings-on as you step inside the towers, all told by a not-too-recent inhabitant. This event is free to members. A family pass (for 2 adults and up to 3 children under 18) costs £28.90, an adult pass costs £9.90, Juniors (aged 5 – 17) students with a valid NUS card and serving Armed Forces and Veterans costs £6, seniors are £8 and disabled visitors plus a companion are admitted free.
