Exciting times ahead with the Veterans Shed Conwy.
Today at Pen y Bryn we hosted some of the lovely members of the Veterans Shed Conwy for a nice leisurely walk around the farm followed by Afternoon Tea and a good chinwag
Our main focus was on the Wildlife ponds where we will be spending the next few weeks and months working on various projects with them and members of the local volunteer community supported by C.V.S.C (http://cvsc.org.uk/en/) and Veterans Hub (veteranshubconwy.org) But we did find time to pop over and say hello to the animals and enjoy some of the gardens and duck pond during their visit.
The Veterans Shed already do some fantastic work both independently and in association with Crest Cooperative in Colwyn Bay and Llandudno where they have done some amazing up-cycling projects using their woodworking, building, electrical, welding and design skills. We hope by hosting them at Pen y Bryn we can help them build on what they have already achieved by offering a different environment and therefore different opportunities to learn new skills and share their own. Pen y Bryn Has some beautiful scenery and it’s a calm and peaceful environment where you can relax and take it all in while you listen to the birds sing, it also offers the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities which we hope will appeal to a wide range of people with varied interests.
We discussed lots of great ideas for short and long term projects that we hope to explore further with them. These included Fishing, Pond Management, Bird watching, Wildlife Conservation, Land Management, Gardening, Farming, Animal Therapy, Arts & Crafts, Landscape Painting, Yoga, Bee Keeping, Bush craft & Outdoor skills, Yurt and TiPi Building, Walking, Orienteering, Archery and lots more. We all finished the meeting buzzing with ideas and I’m sure we will come up with lots more to discuss when we meet up next. We hope they enjoyed meeting us as much as we did them and we are really looking forward to seeing them again soon.
