Five Unusual Ways To Spend Time During Your Stay At Pen-y-Bryn Farm
We've told you all about Zip World, Bounce Below, Bear Grylls' Rib Ride and other quirky and unusual ways to spend the day during your time with us at Pen-y-Bryn Farm Holiday Cottages & Farmhouse. The following are 5 more local attractions that offer something different for you during your stay with us in North Wales.
St Winifride's Well in Holywell is a 30 minute drive away from Pen-y-Bryn Farm. The well has a macabre history but today is a peaceful shrine. You can also visit the Library, Museum and renovated Victorian former Custodian's House. There are even wooden walking sticks on display which were left by people who were healed in the water. Entry fees are incredibly modest, with all of the proceeds going towards the upkeep of the site. For more information, please click here to visit the website.
Chester Roman Amphitheatre and Chester Roman Gardens. Both free to visit, the two sites are situated next to each other in the beautiful walled City of Chester. Just an hour away from our Holiday Cottages, these attractions are ideal for a leisurely stroll as part of your visit. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is famous the world over because of its name. Given such a long name for publicity purposes, which we have to admit was a stroke of genius, the village gained its famous name in the late 1800's. The village is around a 50 minute drive from our farm and receives a lot of visitors every year who have their photograph taken under the sign at the train station and leave with a t shirt bearing the name of the town. The legend of Gelert is known to many of us from our History lessons at school. Beddgelert in Snowdonia, home of the legend, is a stunning village just under an hour away from our cottages. You can take the mile long Gelert's grave walk along the River Glaslyn and really immerse yourself in the history of the village and the story of Gelert. Explore the inner workings of Electric Mountain in Snowdonia, just a 50 minute drive from us. Take a tour, relax in the cafe or visit Genius Corner to play games and discover fascinating facts about electricity and how to use it safely. Learn about circuits, lightning, batteries, conductors and all kinds of interesting electricity topics. You can explore how electricity gets from the power station to the plugs in your home. There are also fun experiments, games, challenging quizzes, interesting facts and amazing videos. Entry to the centre is free, there is a fee to take a guided tour which must be booked in advance.
