A Taste Of The Award Winning Beaches Surrounding Pen-y-Bryn Farm


North Wales is home to some of the best coastlines in the world. A few of these stunning beaches are right on our doorstep which is ideal for our guests at Pen-y-Bryn Farm. The following are just a few of the beaches that are within a short drive of our holiday cottages and farmhouse. There are plenty more for you to explore, too!

Sandy Cove in Kinmel Bay, Conwy, is an award winning beach less than a 20 minute drive away from Pen-y-Bryn Farm. It is a Seaside Award Rural Beach so the water quality must be at least EC mandatory standard. The beach itself is sandy and has free parking for over 100 cars. There is a cafe and first aid post but the beach is not manned by a life guard. Toilet facilities are available in the nearby Asda store. Dogs are not permitted on the beach from May to September and must be kept on a lead at all other times.

Abergele & Pensarn is an award winning beach situated around a 10 minute drive away from our holiday cottages. It is a Seaside Award resort beach so the water quality must be at least EC mandatory standard. This beach also has a Green Coast Award. The aim of the Green Coast Award is to acknowledge those beaches which meet Guideline water quality and are prized for their natural, unspoiled environment. Facilities situated along the promenade include toilets, shops and a seasonal café, as well as a disabled access point to the beach. There is no lifeguard at this beach.

Colwyn Bay is around a 20 minute drive from Pen-y-Bryn Farm. It is proud to have won the prestigious Blue Flag Award. The Blue Flag Award is internationally recognised for the coastal environment, water quality, safety and access for all. The blue flag represents a serious and profound commitment to both people and the environment. Colwyn Bay is a sandy beach with a lifeguard and lots of amenities. Dogs are not allowed on the main part of the beach from 1st May to 30th September, and are not permitted at all on certain parts of the beach.

Llandudno North is around a 30 minute drive from us here at Pen-y-Bryn Farm and is a Seaside Award Resort Beach. This means the that water quality meets EC mandatory standards. The beach has large pebbles in some areas and towards the pier becomes a sand/shale beach. Punch and Judy, ice cream and gift stalls, arcades and all amenities are close by. The beach does not have a life guard.

Llandudno West is also around a 30 minute drive from our holiday cottages and farmhouse. It is proud to have won the prestigious Blue Flag Award. The Blue Flag Award is internationally recognised for the coastal environment, water quality, safety and access for all. The blue flag represents a serious and profound commitment to both people and the environment. The West Shore sandy beach is quieter than Llandudno's North Pier beach but has toilets and a cafe. Dogs are restricted at this beach and there is no life guard.
