Events In And Around Conwy This Summer Holiday


The Summer holidays are almost upon us and the areas in and around Conwy have plenty on offer to suit every family, taste and budget. Take a look at our suggestions of just some of the places to visit and things to do during the first full week of the school summer holidays.

Friday 22nd July is the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Bodnant Welsh Food. Their website says, 'Fall down the Bodnant rabbit hole and join us for an exclusive event. We will gather around our large dining table to be joined by special guests. At Bodnant Welsh Food, Furnace Farm, Taly-Cafn, Colwyn Bay from 5pm to 6.30pm. Saturday 23rd July is Quay Day at the Conwy River Festival. There will be 8 free children's shows in the marquee including Magic Rabbit Productions and Mr Bimbamboozle. There will also be rides and games with Knightley's Funfair, entertainment including bands on the Quayside near the Liverpool Arms pub, the RNLI will be presenting demonstrations and safety advice, Colwyn Bay Jet Ski Club will be on hand with Jet Ski's for a small donation to charity and there will also be stalls and refreshments along the quayside. On Sunday 24th July, Hook Norton Brass Band will be holding a Concert at The Old Railway Station, Betws-y-Coed from 1-3pm. On Monday 25th July, Greenwood Forest Parks activity list will keep the whole family busy! Included in the entrance fee are four shows in the 200 seat theatre: Smarty Marty from 12-12.20pm and 2-2.20pm and Harley's Showtime from 1-1.20pm and 3-3.20pm. For a fee there is also hair braiding and body art, a variety of crafts activities, face painting and donkey rides (weather permitting). On Tuesday 26th July, Llandudno Musical Productions present 'Curtain Up!' Their website says of this event, 'An evening of song and dance awaits you, ready to lift your spirits!' Fans of Roald Dahl are in for a real treat at Rhuddlan Castle. On Wednesday 27th July, and every following Wednesday during the school holidays, there will be Witches, warts, revolting rhymes and marvellous medicine brought to life. The website says 'On Wednesday afternoons during the school summer holidays come and listen to stories by Roald Dahl and take part in themed activities. This event will take place from 1-3pm. On Thursday 28th July you can find Rhodri the robin and his friends during a family quiz trail at the RSPB Nature Reserve in Conwy. You can pick up a quiz sheet with stickers for 50p in the visitor centre and follow the Blue Tit trail to see if you can find where Rhodri the robin and his friends are hiding. You will have to look high and low to spot them. Once you have completed the trail, take your completed quiz sheet back to the visitor centre to claim your special Rhodri the robin themed quiz trail badge.
