Family Holiday Diary - Final Part

This is the final blog in our 6 part series. Please click on the corresponding number to read the previous instalments: One, Two, Three, Four and Five.

Thursday

We take a walk around the farm and then go and see the animals. I'm off out for lunch with a friend today and I can't wait! We drive into Abergele and have lunch at DPL, also known as Departure Lounge. I have a glass of rose and lemonade and a jacket potato with cheese, beans and salad. My friend has fish, chips and peas with a side salad and a glass of orange juice. Then a hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows. It's all really tasty and the staff are lovely too. A great catch up and the afternoon disappears before we know it!

We're going home in the morning so we have one final drive around the local area and we end with a sunset. We park along the road outside the entrance to Pen-y-Bryn Farm and watch as the sun sets over the hills ahead of us. What a lovely way to end our holiday! Back to the cottage and the kids go off to feed the animals with Jay while we get some washing done and start to pack our things. There is a washing machine around the corner in a separate room and there is also a dryer. They are both cheap to use - £2 each for a wash and a dry, with the coins going into a box on the wall that starts a countdown. Finally it's bedtime. We let the girls stay up later than usual and they play outside with Jay until it starts to go dark.

Friday

The car is packed and we're very sad to be leaving. There is a 10% discount offered to guests who book their next trip before leaving and after the fantastic week we've had here we're happy to accept the offer! There is so much to do in the surrounding areas and we didn't do half of the things we planned so we already have a list for next time. We can't thank Michelle and her team enough – we've had a wonderful week and it won't be long until we're back in Lavender Cottage again for another terrific break in North Wales.

To book your break in Lavender Cottage, Heather Cottage, Primrose Cottage or Bluebell Cottage, please click here to visit the website. Each Cottage sleeps five people and you can also add a cot if required. For a larger group, the Farmhouse sleeps 14 plus cots. For more information, please click here.
