Gwrych Castle Garden Party, 18-19 July

This weekend the Gwrych Trust Garden Party will take place at Gwyrch castle in Abergele. The event, which will run from 12-4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, promises to be a fun and interesting day out for all the family.

Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust became a registered charity in 2001 after changing its name from A Society for the Friends of Gwrych (ASFOG). The charities aim is to establish a long-term solution for the conservation and preservation of the Castle. The Trust is currently in the process of restoring the castle to its former beauty, with the first part of the restoration already being complete.

The newly restored Gardener's Tower will be open to the public during this weekends festivities. The hard work of the volunteers who have painstakingly brought this beautiful area of the building back to life is sure to please the visitors. The first floor chamber of the tower was used as a writing room by Winifred Bamford-Hesketh, the Countess of Dundonald who was the final heir to the castle. The basement of the tower was used by the Gwrych gardeners as a mess room.

'Falconry, Birds of Prey Display & Handling, Clive Beattie, the Great Razzini Children's Entertainer, Handmade Crafts, Face Painting, Children’s Drawing & Painting Activities, Exhibitors, Outdoor crafts, Stalls and see the restored Tower. Hot food, cold food, (seating & facilities available under cover) ice cream, strawberries & cream, cake stall, preserves, toy stall, sweets, Gwrych history display, Guided Tours every hour and much more... Come and support Gwrych Trust.

Parking at Manorafon Farm (left after passing under the Main Arch Entrance off Tan-y-Gopa Road. A full schedule and a great family opportunity to walk and enjoy the estate and the beautiful surroundings at Gwrych Castle, Abergele.'
