Three local tasting tours close to Pen-y-Bryn Farm

Here at Pen-y-Bryn Farm & Holiday Cottages, we are always on the look out for new experiences for our guests to try. We are proud to have so many local producers of excellent food and drink right on our doorstep. For some of the best locally grown and reared food that the world has to offer, you need look no further than North Wales. Here are our suggestions of ways to sample a small selection of what is available within a short drive of our cottages and farmhouse.

Patchwork Foods in Ruthin, which is around a 35 minute drive from us, offer visitors a taste of their fabulous pâté alongside a tour of their base. The tours, which must be booked in advance, are available for individuals or groups of 2 or 4 people. You will learn about the story of the founder, products and team, receive a tour of the factory and get to taste some of their delicious produce during the hour that you spend with your guide. You will also receive a hamper to take home with you (1 between 2, or 1 each for individual tours.) The samples of pâté that you taste will not be sampled from your hamper, as the team like to say, 'the more pâté the merrier!' Sounds good to us! Conwy Brewery are a short 20 minute drive/taxi ride from us here at Pen-y-Bryn Farm. For £10 per person, they offer a pre-booked brewery tour, which offers a fascinating insight into the world of the micro brewery. Your knowledgeable guide will show you around and tell you all about their most popular brews and at the end of the tour, you will be offered the chance to sample their wares. As if that isn't enough, there is an on-site micropub called Mash where you can further enjoy a pint or two of Conwy ale. They also offer day long events – Brewer for a day or Design your own beer day. You can even purchase some bottles to continue the sampling back at your cottage!
