January Fun With Pen-y-Bryn Farm


If you are looking for a way to entertain the family during your stay at Pen-y-Bryn Farm this January, there are plenty of activities to choose from. With so many local events to choose from, our selection offers you a few ideas to help you and your family make the most of your visit to North Wales.

Venue Cymru are offering three different workshops on the 9th and 10th of January 2016.

  • Everything you need to know about Minecraft, hosted by Blockopedia author Alex Wiltshire, will be held at 10.15am and 3.15pm on the 9th and 10th of January 2016. This interactive talk will last for approximately one hour and costs £1 per person.

  • All budding model makers will love the chance to make a character with a model maker from Aardman, the company behind Wallace and Gromit. The sessions cost £1 per model maker and will take place at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 3pm on the 9th (making Shaun the sheep) and 10th (making Gromit)of January 2016.

  • As part of take pART 7. Sing and dance with Cyw and friends this January. The 11.30am and 2.15pm performances will be followed by a meet and greet on stage. All seats cost £1.

Also taking part on the 9th of January is the Saturnalia Real Ale Ramble which started during an era when slaves and their masters would change places for the day. The festival has many winter warmer ales, plus some special foods from Roman times. Once you are full up and ready to walk off some of the festivals cheer, you can take part in the Saturnalia Ramble which utilises the routes of old Roman roads where possible – with free ale at the checkpoints! Conwy Castle, a local castle which has been preserved to a very high standard, is a great way to take in some local history. The castle is open to the public from Monday to Saturday 10.00am – 4.00pm and on Sunday 11.00am – 4.00pm, with the last admission to the castle being 30 minutes before closing. Admission costs for this time of year are as follows. Adult - £6.75 Family (admits 2 adults and all children under 16) - £20.25. Rhyl Seaquarium is another local attraction that has been visited by many of our guests over the years. With its 9 zones featuring a variety of species from around the world and its 33,000 gallon pool where you can watch the sea lions swim and play, this attraction is a fun day out for the whole family. The Seaquarium is open every day from 10am – 5pm, with the last admission at 4pm.
