The 7th Annual Rhyl Air Show, August 29-30

Here at Pen-y-Bryn, we are excited to see the return of the fantastic Annual Rhyl Air Show this August. With over 140,000 visitors to the event last year, and over 180,000 expected throughout the weekend this year, we aren't the only ones looking forward to watching the sky above Rhyl seafront come to life.

The event website has proudly announced a taste of this years line up, which will include 'the RAF Parachute Display Team The Falcons, Steve Carver’s aerobatic display, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight including a Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota, the new RAF Hawk T2 Demo Role Duo and the world famous Red Arrows Aerobatic Display Team.'

There has also been confirmation that one of the last flights of the Vulcan bomber will take place during the weekend event. Stephen Hughes, Interim Head of Communication, Marketing & Leisure for Denbighshire County Council said: “The addition of the Vulcan XH558 to the Rhyl Air Show line-up is terrific news. The Vulcan is a huge favourite of aircraft enthusiasts across the UK, and makes a welcome return visit to the skies above Rhyl Seafront. The aircraft will also be retiring from public displays of this nature in September, so the people of Denbighshire and visitors to the area over the weekend of the event will be among the last to see this iconic bomber take to the skies.”

Since 2009 this free event has grown year upon year and it is easy to understand why. This year, the Red Arrows are confirmed for the Sunday line-up and the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team will perform on both Saturday and Sunday. World War 2 Spitfires and Hurricanes will also appear and perform breathtaking nosedives and loop-the-loops. Some other highlights of the event will be ground displays, model aircraft, children's entertainment and family fun throughout the day.

With so many reasons to visit Rhyl Airshow this August, we can't wait to welcome you to North Wales. The air show is a ten minute drive from our cottages and you can even watch most of the display from Pen-y-Bryn, too! Whether you are a small or large group, we have the perfect accommodation for you in our farmhouse or one of our 4 holiday cottages. Our farm is the perfect place for you to relax after an exciting day on the promenade watching the planes spin and swoop above you.
