A big Thank You to the Veterans Shed Conwy.
June 11, 2018
As you will know if you follow our blogs, we have recently launched the Forces of Nature project with the members of the Veterans Shed Conwy . The aim of the project is to give our local Veterans the oppertunity to spend time with eachother and community groups engaging in a range of nature themed outdoor activities and projects hosted here at Pen y Bryn Farm and Holiday Cottages.
Over the last few weeks we have been joined by Martin one of the founders of the Veterans Shed and his helpers Bob and Buzz who have been working to clear the weeds and walkways around our ponds. The ponds will play a huge roll in the Forces of Nature project as they will create a perfect environment for our volunteers to get close to nature in many ways.
The Veterans Shed members have lots of plans for the future at Pen y Bryn Farm and Holiday Cottages including a Fishing pond project, bushcraft and orienteering days and arts and crafts of many kinds, so watch this space to see whats coming and how you can get involved. A huge Thank you to Martin for all his hard work and to Bob and Buzz for supervising.
During May half term the Veterans Shed also took our son Jay who is studying for his exams in construction and engineering into their workshop - located at Crest in Colwyn Bay and let him take a look at some of their latest creations. The Veterans make bespoke furniture both by commission and from their own designs and Jay was really interested to learn some of the processes they use. He even got to try some engraving under the supervision of Martin and made himself a glass picture of his favourite Rap artist.
Jay is really looking forward to going back as soon as he can to spend time with the Veterans and learn new skills from them that he can put to use in his own projects. A huge Thank you to them all for taking him under their wing and making him so welcome.
