Gwledd Conwy Feast, 24-25 October 2015

This October sees the return of the much loved Gwledd Conwy Feast. The festival, which is now in its 12th year, is a chance for local food suppliers to come and share their wares with one and all. And the fun doesn't end there, as there are plenty of other businesses in North Wales who are keen to show off everything they have to offer.

Each year there is a theme to the event and, as 2015's theme is 'Made in Wales,' it is apt that around three quarters of the exhibitors this year are from Wales itself. The event will be held during the weekend of the 24-25 October 2015, and will take place at the Civic Hall on Castle Street, LL32 8AY.

Throughout the weekend there will be various activities, including Kitchen Theatre which will be hosted by professional chefs, Tasting Kitchen – where the chefs will team up with local producers to create something local and delicious, a wine tasting which includes sparkling, German and fortified wines and a pop-up restaurant run by the staff and students of Coleg Llandrillo College.

Hiraeth, which is roughly translated into English as 'an earnest desire for the Wales of the past', will offer a celebration of traditional rural skills. Exhibitions will include Weavers, Contemporary Hardwood Furniture Makers, Woodcarvers, Shoe and Clog Makers and Designers. There will also be three Education Centres with a range of skills and courses on offer.

In the Farming and Growing Tent you will have an opportunity to see a full range of skills in action, including spinning, sheep shearing and stick making. There will be a chance to get up close to some animals, with Welsh black cattle and calf, Suffolk sheep, pigs, a shire horse, hens, turkeys and geese all making an appearance. Welsh TV celebrity farmer Gareth Wyn-Jones will also be commenting on the sheep shearing and chatting with festival goers on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.

There will also be free cooking sessions for children, dinosaur den, edible gardens, street food, river food hall and a farmers market. Tickets are priced at £13 for a whole weekend ticket; £8.50 for a Saturday Ticket and £6.50 for a Sunday Ticket. Children under 16 are admitted free when attending with a paying adult. If you show your festival wristband, you can also gain free entry to Conwy Castle and Medieval Food Display.
